Slideshow using the image widget on the homepage?

Hi. I want to know if we can put a slideshow of images in the homepage. I know how to put an image from the IMAGE widget but I want to know if can be used to view the images like a slideshow. Thanks.

The image widget cannot be used for any purpose or in any other way than what’s stated here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/image-widget/
Note that a slideshow will display a set of images attached to a particular post or page. Here’s the link to support documentation on slideshows. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/slideshows/
I did a forum search for “slideshow widget” for you and the results are that it’s possible, if you use a 3rd-party slideshow and paste the right shortcode in a text widget.
