slideshows are taking too long to display

    Hey there, an issue I can’t seem to resolve. I have half a dozen slideshows that ran without a problem before June 10. Then I changed the theme and changed it back to the same theme. Now the slideshows seem to hang. If you wait a real long time, they will show. After they show, if you leave the page and return, you start all over waiting again. A message is displayed briefly — this slideshow needs javascript. I have tried re-creating the slideshows but nothing is helping. Any thoughts?

    Hi Patricia,

    I see what you mean about that page loading slowly. I reported that issue to our team, and I’ll let you know if I find out more about recent changes that may have contributed to that issue or if we can change how those slideshows load on your page.

    For now, though, the best way to fix that is to resize the images in those slideshows. When you use large images in your slideshows, you will have to wait for all of those large images to load on the page. By resizing your images so they are small, they will load faster on the page.

    Hi there, resizing

    work.

    I deleted all the slideshows and reinserted one using 30+ images between 100 and 200 kb in size. Then I cleared my history and navigated to the page again.

    I have the same problem — it took 20 seconds to load the slideshow which was not the case before last week. Before last week, it took only seconds to load and the images were much larger.

    Note, I get the same result regardless of what computer or internet connection I use.

    Thanks for letting me know! I’m sorry resizing the images didn’t help here. I don’t have an update yet from my team about this issue — as soon as I know more I’ll let you know.
