Slideshows in Gallery

  Since wordpress have completely updated their site I can’t figure out how to make a gallery of photos on a page show as a slideshow. There doesn’t seem to be a ‘Gallery Settings’ section like there used to be and this is where you would select the way the gallery is displayed. Does anyone know where this is on the new version?

  Hi edinburghboatcharters,

  I’m thinking you’re referring to the new Block Editor which has replaced the old Classic Editor, it can take a little bit of time to get used to but there are lots of guides which will help you find what you need.

  Right now I think you might find the “Galleries and Slideshows” guide useful: https://en.support.wordpress.com/gallery/.

  Hello, I read that guide before but my version of wordpress doesn’t look like that. I can’t select “add media”. I can select “add image” or “add gallery”. I do the gallery and it just puts the photos in a row. I can’t find anywhere to put them in a slideshow.

  Hi edinburghboatcharters,

  Just checking; is it on your edinburghboatcharters.wordpress.com blog that you are having this issue?

  Did you select the Gallery block first? Once you have selected the Gallery block you should see options to either “Upload” or “Media Library”.

  it was our Forth Estuary site, but it’s ok, I’ve sorted it. It was a problem with a plugin on the page. Thanks for your help

  The user does not have any upgrades on their account which is how I know they are unable to add plugins on edinburghboatcharters.wordpress.com.

  In the future it is best to confirm the site URL so we can get them to the right place asap.
