“slow down” BB Press message
-
When the BB Press “slow down” message appears it eliminates everything one has typed into the comment box prior to clicking “submit”.
This is extremely annoying and makes me want to shout bad words at the top of my lungs.
My idea is that when the message is displayed whatever is in the content box is preserved rather than being eliminated. I assume the software not be changed to achieve this – please, please -change it!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That would be darn useful. For whatever reason I think it used to function this way, but doesn’t anymore.
-
I don’t recall the evaporation happening in the past but my memory may not be as good as yours.
I’m thinking this must have happened to many volunteers answering questions but even if it doesn’t happen to others as frequently as it happens to you and I, which is every day – I want this to be changed.
-
Yes, raincoaster and timethief, the evaporation has certainly happened to me often recently. I don’t post as frequently as either of you. Actually I thought it only happened to be because I’m quick on the submit button after I finish what I want to post. But it has done that only recently. I’ve just developed the habit to copy my comment, then submit. More than a little annoying…
I have also experienced that my answers are invisible. I’ll post an answer, but after I submit it does not go to the top of the forum with my name/avatar.
I checked with another forum person, and apparently my posts are actually invisible. I can see them, but others can not.
Has this happened to either of you? I send a message to support and it gets fixed quickly. But I don’t think that should be necessary. Other volunteers answer, often with the same advise I I give, and if I don’t contact support, it takes a long time (a day or two +??) for my posts to appear. -
It’s happened to me quite regularly; it seems to happen when I post too many links. To be safe, never post more than two in a given comment and then make a new comment with two more, etc. The only way out of the “Bozo bin” is staff intervention.
-
Yes, the “slow down” thing comes with more than one or two posts: I hate that because it makes volunteers look as though we don’t know enough to put it in one post.
But the other thing, the invisible thing, that seems to happen randomly. Links or no. Staff member answering something is impossible then me saying it can be done, full moon, winning lotto # being all 666s…
Email staff and it gets fixed. At least email doesn’t require stamps…

I currently have 3 invisible comments in this thread https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/feedjit-help-_?replies=9 My attempts to tell noreligionblog that he had the javascript version of feedjit and need to get the code for thr HTML version were in vain. I reported this to Staff by email. After some hours passed I went to his blog and left a contact message with the link to the correct page on feedjit for the HTML code.

Like raincoaster I have reverted to trying to limit my posts to include no more that 2 links. That’s why you see those multiple comment boxes. It’s not because I’m hepped on talking to myself, at least not in public comment boxes. ;)
So you launch into a long answer and have to break it up into bits so it doesn’t have too many links and become invisible, and that’s when another blogger answers in between bits. All you can do then is laugh :D ***headesk***
-
Yes, you are invisible in that thread.
I was beginning to get paranoid: wp.com suddenly decided orange cats can’t answer questions in the forums, or I’d hurt someone’s feelings, or who knows. most annoying. -
You know, I have been invisible even in comments with only one link.
Someone else answers and the OP thanks that person and the whole time I’m excluded and wasted my time… -
@TT I fixed it for you your replies should show up now. the issue was you we’re marked as spam I went ahead and un-spammed your replies
On a side not I don’t know why your replies we’re marked as spam but your replies had nothing in the writing to warrant spam status.
-
So now we have to copy every comment before hitting submit as well. I guess I can adjust but it’s a royal pain in the ascending parts. I’m multitasking when I’m online. I have multiple windows and tabs open, and I’m often dealing with answering more than one person in more venue at the same point in time — just keeping them straight in my mind is a struggle.
I can’t articulate how much I hate that sneering “slow down” (I’m eliminating everything you said because I am a machine programmed to think that you type too fast message.)
-
@I3ck
Thank you for un- spamming my comments. No, there was nothing in the least spammy about them … sigh -
-
tt,
I don’t think it has to do with hitting submit too fast. I’ve gone off to look at another window before posting and return a few minutes later. That stupid green thing seems to show up at random.
It doesn’t happen everyday to me, but I don’t post all that often… -
The slow down notice is triggered when you post twice within 20 seconds or so. Some of us are “special’ so we don’t get it…UNTIL we clear our cookies. Then it starts again.
-
Whether or not speed is the trigger I don’t know but like you I suspect it isn’t. I think it may have to do with how many people are active on the board at any given point in time but I could be 100% wrong.
What I do know is that it’s programmed to act as it does.
(1) Something must trigger it and Staff will know what that “trigger” is.(2) It’s also eliminating all our typing in the submission box when it’s triggered and that can also be addressed and rectified in the programming.
-
I probably take the record for the number of times every day I force clear my browser, and clear my cache and cookies and sign in again.
-
I know before I became a moderator I would get that notice if Posted in 2 different threads like 30secs apart.
