Slow editing seems better

When the newest version of WordPress came out I found the editing mode to be slow. I mean, I would try to move the cursor around and there was a time lag. It was pretty frustrating. So I went to editing in MS Word and copying and pasting. But that was a hassle too because I have an older MS Word and I’d lose some formatting doing that.

I figured the problem was probably ‘cos I only have 512 RAM, and the new interface just required more. So I tried Gears but that did nothing for the editing speed (it did speed up loading times though).

Lately I find the editing speed is getting better. My question is… is this something I’ve done or have internal improvements been made at WordPress?

If there’s anything else I can do to speed up the editing mode, short of buying a new computer, please share the knowledge!

    Thanks,

    MC

It’s hard to tell what speeded things up.

One thing I’ll point you towards is this FAQ on why not to use Word: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/09/why-not-to-use-word/ .

Since Word does not speak HTML, it can really mess things up by putting all sorts of bogus code into your posts, and it can actually at times break your theme and everything will go all wonky.

Oh, thanks very much. I guess other people aren’t having this issue. It probably is an excess of tags as I’ve flipped my work around through various editors, accumulating all sorts of unwanted code.

I think I’ll look into a desktop client.
