Slow image downloads in WordPress

    Why do images take so long to download in WordPress blogs, including your own log-in page, as well as my own blog. I am not using large image files. It’s the same in either Firefox or IE8. Uploads take quite a while as well. At the moment my own home page appears fairly readily, except one particular image, but I usually run out of patience before those in older posts download. It’s the same in other WordPress bloggers posts, but not in blogs not hosted by WordPress. This is a fairly recent happening, about a month, it was fine until then.

    Forgot to say I’ve done all the recommended history deletions, firewall checks etc.

    I don’t experience what you describe with my own blogs or other wordpress.com blogs by and large. However, I suppose we bloggers are all capable of placing so much “tat” on your front pages that we can negatively effect page loading times. . Will you please post the URL for the blog(s) you are experiencing these difficulties with.

    Just an example, this is fairly universal, sometimes the most recently posted is fine, as is my Home Page, usually. If I walk away and let the recent posts images download, then there is no delay in future downloads until it disappears into the archive. I don’t think other people are having a problem with images on my blog, as I still get comments from older posts. The uploads are quite slow, but they sometimes appear in post preview, and will eventually appear in the published post. I can see that it may be something to do with my browser or pc but it is happening in IE8 and Firefox and both pcs.
    I yesterday un-installed my anti-virus, and firewall software, but it made no difference.
    Any advice needs to be easily understood please, but it would be gratefully received.
    This is not a problem that is affecting the actual blog, text and things, only images
