Slow to load
-
My blog is sometimes very slow to load. I am wondering it it is because I am not uploaded my pictures to the blog, but linking them from my photo site. OR do I have a virus of some kind? I am beginning to be quite worried.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Your site loads pretty quickly for me. Do you have trouble viewing other image-heavy sites on the internet? Is your internet connection very good?
http://www.speedtest.net/Note that you are dependent on the site where the images are saved for the speed of those images loading. How fast a page loads also depends on your local connection speed and how many things are loading on the page you are looking at. Putting too many images on one page will also slow down a site in general.

Slow for me – but you have a ton of graphics – even it I were your friend I would not visit often – ran my dsl link wide open for quite a while – different load times for you – probably depends on what is in your cache –
I only let the whole site load because I was curious about the graphic size – else after 5 or 6 seconds I would just have killed the link.
I would use “more” to shrink all but the first post – if I have been to your site before do I really need to have old stuff I have seen load each time?

Yes, that’s my fear that people won’t visit because it loads so slow/at uneven times. Or I even thought…..do I have a virus? How do I use the “more” option?

Yikes, that loading time is reallly costing you readers.
First thing, reduce the number of posts on a page; staff recommends about 5 per page, really. Do that under Settings->Reading.
Use the More tag if its’ still slow-loading. I don’t like More, but some people do:

Ah, its much faster just changing the number of pages per post. I changed it from 20 (yikes, I know) to 5. I do use a lot of graphics, so I probably should start using the “more” tag. I wish wordpress could use the “LinkWithin” plug-in because that would help readers link to older posts. Or maybe change the template? I like the one I’m using because of its large image size.
Thanks for your help! I greatly appreciate it.

Instead of the LinkWithin, just use Zemanta: if you add it to your browser, you can set your preferences so it only pulls suggested links from within your own blog.

Downloaded Zemanta. It shows up when I write my posts, however, I cannot figure out how to edit preferences so it pulls from my blog. I’ve been on forums (http://www.zemanta.com/faq/support/#faqid-33), but my Zemanta widget doesn’t have a preferences tab and I can’t figure out a way to log-in.
