Slow to upload and edit photo

  Tried to upload a photo and it either stops or is incredibly slow. When I do get it uploaded, it is slow or will not let me edit. Once I do edit, it is slow or will not let me update the page. Have been using wordpress site for 6 months. This started in the last month.
