Slow Website – Drastic Action taken

    Hi,

    I have a website wordpress/ woocommerce and its been running fine for many years.

    Around Late January 2025 we noticed that opening orders, editing products and general use of the Admin webpage was really slow. Sometimes it would even say database disconnected and we needed to refresh.

    My website is hosted on Cloudways and when the extreme slowness was happening the server showed 100% cpu. Once you stopped editing etc it went back to normal. Our front end website (customer side) does feel slow as well. Pagespeed gives us a bad score.

    So! We have duplicated the website (different url) on a new server on Xcloud – Same issues

    Drastic Action (see video) I have deleted all Media, All Posts, Disabled all Plugins but I can still create a pause if I go into pages. It starts to show edit/quickedit/view etc then pauses. Doesn’t seem much in the video but when the Media is back, all my products and Orders that pause is about 6 – 10 seconds and sometimes page un-responsive.

    I guess the question is – What runs to cause the pause and how to stop it?

    Your website is hosted on Cloudways, not on WordPress.com, so this is something that you need to take up with Cloudways.

    Your WordPress installation came from WordPress.org, not from WordPress.com
