  The purpose of the slug is to give your post a unique URL. In the Permalink at the top of a post, WordPress gives you a default slug which you can change by click on it. It is typically highlighted in yellow. This is an important consideration for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SERP (Search Engine Results Page) rankings
