Small icon images for post aitors
-
Hello guys.
Sorry to bother you with what might be something quite simple to resolve.
I’m the editor over at our home site, and I have been contributing there for 27 months now, and editor for 16 months.
Yesterday, our site administrator updated the ‘look’ of the home page from what it had been to a new theme, this one ‘Under The Influence’.Previously, when posting from our other sites, we would place a small thumbnail image of the post author at the top left of the post, using the smallest image size available.
Now, when we use that same small image icon, it appears as a large out of focus and incorrectly sized image, as you can see if you go to our site and look there.
As the new Theme has two columns, you need to click on the title or the ‘read more’ tab, and the post will open in a wider single column page. That author image is further stretched again.
Even though I still load that image at the smallest size, it still appears larger than for other images, which appear at the correct size, focus and alignment at both the 2 column home page and the single wider column area when opened.
Is there a simple resolution to load those small author images as ….. small author images.
Again, thanks for the continuing work you guys do to keep WP up to date and ahead of the game.
As much as I was used to the old look, this new theme really does look good.TonyfromOz

I could be wrong, because the theme is very new, but my understanding is that a) the original you upload has to be small enough to be inserted in real size, not downsized via the post editor, b) the dimensions you get on the front page are affected by the “Max Picture Width” and “Max Picture Height” setttings: so try going to Appearance > Theme Options and changing those two to a very high number, say 1000.

I tried that by finding the tiniest sized image I could at the original site and then uploading that to our site. Formerly, it would not even register.
No, with the new theme, even that tiny image still shows as a large image, and no matter what size the small image icons are in ‘edit post’ they all load up as the same out of focus, out of size images in the 2 column home page and the single page post. -
In my test blog I was getting images in the right width to height ratio. But I hadn’t experimented enough, I’m afraid: now that I ran more tests, I saw that all left or right aligned images turn up 200px wide no matter what their real size and no matter what max numbers I set. Apparently the “Max Picture Height” works but the “Max Picture Width” doesn’t. Please report this to staff:

Thanks.
I have contacted them, and informed them of this.
How do they get back to me now that I have informed them? -

Could an Administrator please change the wording of the title where it says ‘Aitors’ to read ‘Authors’ to save me from feeling really embarrassed.
Thank you.
