    Wondering if I can use this service to generate some website files which I could then host myself on a dedicated server that I own running ubuntu server- The website would have capability to accept small donations- I should be able to to all of this without registering as a non-profit or LLC. I am willing to pay for your service provided the domain name is included, I can edit the website remotely, and I am not paying for hosting services as I will be hosting it myself. I feel this isn’t an unreasonable thing to want but this is now the 6th website builder service I have tried so far and My questions are still unanswered.

    Hi there:

    To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:

    1. The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
    2. WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
    3. WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.

    What you would want to do would not be possible here at WordPress.com as we don’t allow remote or locally hosted instances of the WordPress software.

    The good news is that because you could use the open-source variant of the WordPress software (which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com), help is available at the community forums here:

    The folks in the open-source forum are more familiar with these issues and are in the best position to help.
