Smilies not converting
-
Hi,
I have the convert box checked in Writing, and I am copy/pasting right from the WordPress Smilies chart to make sure no errors. However, none of the smiles are converting.
Here are my questions:
1. Does a post have to be published for the smiley to convert?
(I’m just trying to use them for the first time on a new post that won’t be published until Sunday.)2. Do I paste the smiley marks copied from the WordPress Smileys chart into the post’s Visual or HTML box?
(I’ve tried both, but still not converting)3. Is it that I need some kind of plugin to get the smileys to convert? If so, which one?
Thank you for your help!

Hello there,
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we cannot install plugins at all. All we do is enable them on the Writing page as you apparently have done. If you are following these instructions then when you view the post in the preview mode I believe the smilies will appear. In my test blog I did not copy and paste. I typed the emoticons into the Visual editor in a draft post and I can see smilies in the preview mode. Try typing them instead of copying and pasting and if they are not appearing in your post in preview mode then I believe you will need to contact Staff. http://en.support.wordpress.com/smilies/
