SMTP Error: The following recipients failed | Website is not sending emails
-
Hello there
I am facing an issue with our website as all sent emails are failing regardless of the sender, or plugin that is trying to send.
I have 2 plugins that are trying to send emails (Contact Form 7, WP Job Openings) both are failing for the same reason.
as per WP Mail logging the below is the error am getting:
SMTP Error: The following recipients failed: (email visible only to moderators and staff): : SASL login name rejected: Sender address blocked by DMARC settings. Expires: 2025-01-20 23:29:42 (email visible only to moderators and staff): : SASL login name rejected: Sender address blocked by DMARC settings. Expires: 2025-01-20 23:29:42Our IT contacted DMARC support and their reply was that we have a misconfiguration on your WP setup.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We can’t help as your site isn’t running on the wordpress.com platform nor can we help with third party plugins.
Just follow the advice and install that plugin.

The website is RUNING on wordpress.com, and as i mentioned, and the support i need is not for the third-party plugins, as i mentioned DMARC support suggested (that we have a misconfiguration on your WP setup.)

Hello, @saifothman1990. I had the exact same issue with my website. Use WP forms instead of “contact 7 form” and then install WP Mail SMTP. See https://wpmailsmtp.com/categories/docs/getting-started/. (I recommend brevo which was easy to set up and is free.). Let me know how it goes.

Hello @saifothman1990
It looks like your domain is configured for Microsoft Outlook/Office 365 email. I noticed the errors you shared in your initial post indicated a DMARC issue.
You mentioned that you added DNS records at your domain registrar. If your site is using our email servers for email delivery, you will want to configure the domain at your domain registrar with our email authentication records, here: https://wordpress.com/support/set-up-email-authentication-for-your-domain/#set-up-email-authentication-manually
Another option is to use a SMTP plugin to send emails from the site, in which case you will want to configure the domain with the email authentication records for the email service you are using to send emails from the site.

Thank you @pauljacobson for the detailed reply.
I’ve tested WP Mail SMTP as suggested by @wanjalabkto connect to Outlook/Office 365 and it solved the issue.
