smug mug videos will not embed
-
I copy the address from the address bar of the video that is playing on my smugmug site, enter it on it’s own line in the text body of my blog post entry, and it comes out just as text when I preview it. It does NOT embed. What am I doing wrong?
Here is the link from the address bar of the video: http://www.jwphotography.biz/Video-Cinevations/Random-Captures/i-7L496TQ/AThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The video embeds that WordPress.com supports for all of our blogs – no upgrade required are found here.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/Video shortcodes are here http://en.support.wordpress.com/shortcodes/#video
The VideoPress upgrade include in the Premium upgrade bundle allows you to upload videos from your computer for hosting and playback directly within your blog (or on another site you can designate).
Premium bundle details http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/However, if you upload them to youtube or another supported video source site then you do not need the upgrade.

Smugmug is listed here as compatible: https://codex.wordpress.org/Embeds
So I don’t understand the problem. I paste it in, but it comes out as text, no embedded video.

Can someone verify that the video link above actually embeds the video in a wordpress blog post. Just preview it… you don’t have to publish it.
-
You are pointing to WordPress.ORG documentation, however, the only support docs that apply to WordPress.COM blogs are here http://support.wordpress.COM
WordPress.ORG and WordPress.COM are completely separate and different. https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Wow…. who knew?
So what you’re saying is that SmugMug is not embeddable because it’s not listed as such in the first link you sent?
I don’t understand that. It worked fine a year ago on my site. I’ve only recently noticed all the dead links.

I’ve contacted SmugMug and they say that they have changed nothing on their end. They are convinced there’s something wrong on WordPress’ end.

Yes. Did you use a gigya code workaround that is not supported and can lead to this situation? The gigya code was previously used as a workaround but now others are reporting it no longer works. Staff have been implementing https:// URLs which are more secure. Your URL is now https://016production.wordpress.com/ See here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/why-doesnt-gigya-shortcode-work-in-mozilla-or-chrome-but-does-in-ie?replies=7#post-2262843

Not too sure what gigya code is… but to clarify, I am simply trying to embed this video: http://www.jwphotography.biz/Video-Cinevations/Random-Captures/i-7L496TQ/A
How do I do it? In the past, all I had to do for my other videos on my site was paste the url into the body on its own line. This method is no longer working. In fact all of my other videos from that site do not connect with wordpress anymore.

Ok… I see what is happening. In chrome, nothing shows up, and the same thing in Internet Explorer, unless I allow the unsecure content! OK. Got it. It’s really there, it just doesn’t show up. I’ll have to find the button to allow the unsecure content in the Chrome settings.
Thank you for your assistance, timethief! You are living up to your name. lol.
