SmugMug Photo Embedding
-
Whenever I am trying to embed a photo from my SmugMug site into my WordPress site (via any method whatsoever, including placing the image link into the smugmug embed tool) the link is immediately converted to a paragraph, and the image is not displayed.
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there, can you try it with the embed block?
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/embed-block/And if that does not work, could you send a link to the affected post or page?

Hi Supernovia, sorry for the delayed response.
My site is jacobthebus.wordpress.com – all pages seem to be affected.
The photo site I’m using is jacobthebus.smugmug.com.
The embed block doesn’t work whatsoever, whether using the raw Smugmug URL or the embed link.

Hi there,
Can you provide us with an example URL that you have had trouble uploading? I want to check the URL and see if we can replicate the issue on our end.
Thanks!

Hi there,
It’s unclear if this is due to a change in how SmugMug displays images online, but the bare URL you shared did not work for me. I was, however, able to find a workaround. What you can do instead of copying the page URL is to right-click on the image and then, in the popup menu, save the image link directly.

You can use this URL in the embed block, but I recommend using the Image Block instead. When you add the Image Block, you will see the option to add the URL you copied from SmugMug. I like this block because it has more image controls and flexibility than the Embed Block.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi there,
Thanks ever so much for getting back to me with a solution, this works perfectly! In fact, it seems to work better than the original Smugmug integration.
All the best,
Jacob
