Snaps Theme: Mobile Scrolling

  • Unknown's avatar

I am currently using the theme “Snaps”. It works great on both desktop & mobile except for this one thing:

When on the mobile version of the site as you scroll through the home page (which has portfolio buttons) it seems to retain a hover feature that makes it difficult to scroll. If you happen to tap on one of the portfolio buttons it asks as though your finger was a mouse overing and halts the scrolling.

I am trying to figure out if I could adjust this in the CSS, or if I should find a whole new theme.

whoops, I meant “If you happen to tap on one of the portfolio buttons it HALTS as though your finger was a mouse overing and halts the scrolling.”

    Hi Katie

If you happen to tap on one of the portfolio buttons it HALTS as though your finger was a mouse overing and halts the scrolling.

I see what you mean, it does that on my Android device. It stops the scrolling, but if i do the scroll motion again it will continue to scroll without opening that particular portfolio.

The portfolio opens if i double tap it.

If it did not stop scrolling when touched, it would be difficult to select a portfolio, as they would continue to scroll past when the reader tries to select a portfolio for viewing.

I believe that this is a desirable behavior in this case. If you do want to try and change how the scrolling acts on mobile devices, you would do better to ask in the CSS Customization forum.

Thanks, Dave. Also, isn’t that the forum I am currently in?

    Hello Katie
    You are welcome!

No, this is the WordPress.Com forum for general everyday assistance. The CSS forum i provided the link for is specifically targeted for CSS help.

The level of CSS help here varies by who is on this forum at the time, there is much more consistency at the CSS only forum!

The link to that forum is:

Hmmm interesting. The top of the current screen I am in says WordPress.com forums >> CSS Customization at the top, and when I click the link you provided I see my post! Any idea what I’m doing wrong?

Hi @krholmes9, yes, you have posted in the CSS forum already, so no worries. Right now I’m seeing the Sela theme on http://krholmes.com/. Did you switch, or are you wanting to switch to Snaps?

On the Snap behavior on mobile touch devices, I have filed a bug report on this and hopefully it will be updated soon, but I can’t say for sure when. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I switched back to the Snaps theme because I like it a lot but I am still unable to fix the mobile scrolling issue. I was able to add some CSS code that took away the dark hover state but it did not fix the scrolling issue. Anyone have any ideas?

@krholmes9, there is no solution at the moment. The bug ticket has been filed and hopefully it will be fixed soon although I cannot give an estimate on when that will be.
