  Is it possible to create a webpage without a domain just to peak and try the features in wordpress?

  If you are happy with WordPress, you are able to keep with your free domain or you can upgrade your plan and register a custom domain.

  It just seems to me that I have to choose a domain to get startet. :/

  Just add a word or phrase at https://wordpress.com/start/domains and you’ll be offered a free site just below the two paid for options.
