Snow doesn't turn off – and gives technical issues
-
We have soooo many complaints about the snowfall that wp had added to the blogs as a default feature. Although we’ve turned it off, it seems readers see it anyways and it gives them technical problems with their cursor and use of the blog. How can we get rid of that annoying feature?
-
The snow setting (on or off) is available on your Settings > General page, https://palestineisraelconflict.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php
It looks like the snow is definitely off for palestineisraelconflict.wordpress.com, so if some users are still seeing it, they may be viewing a cached version of your site. When they restart their browsers or clear their browser cache, it should disappear.

The snow was turned off within days when the feature was added. It seems to make no difference. Both new readers who don’t have old cache and existing readers complain. The snow also makes the blog very slow. Any way to correct this?

Your website is slower than 71% of all tested websites and that’s because of what you have done. It has zero to do with snow. If you want you site to load faster then reduce the number of links to Recent Posts in your sidebar and get rid of the videos embedded there.
http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/eAbmIW/http://palestineisraelconflict.wordpress.com/Your blog’s load time will increase in accord with the number of links, images, videos, other media embeds and the number of widgets running script you have on your blog.
For reducing page loading time strategies please consider:
(1.) Inserting insert the more tag http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/ into your posts.(2.) Reducing the size of images, the number of media embeds, the number of widgets, and the number of posts displaying on the front page > Settings > Reading.

You have (1) covered as you have chosen to use Sight and the theme is designed to produce front page excerpts automatically. It’s (2) that you need to work on.

We don’t get complaints about a slow website except with the snow. And we’ve had links and videos for about a year now. People are complaining that the snow interferes with their cursor and cause the browser to hang. If we turn off the snow we still snow in the menu bar and the problems remain.
We have other blogs that are basically inactive with a handful of content but they too have problems with the snow feature. They have no plugins, links or video links. -
The box enabling snow is definitely turned off for the site at palestineisraelconflict.wordpress.com. Is this the site you’re having difficulties with?
