  how do I get rid of the snowflakes on my blog

  The snow effect is a seasonal feature that can be turned on in Dashboard > Settings > General every Christmas season on WordPress.com blogs.

  Go to your dashboard.
  Navigate to Settings → General.
  UNCheck the box next to “Show falling snow on this blog.” at the very end of the page.
