So confused

I started my WordPress premium account about a month ago to make a DIY blog and at this point I am completely frustrated and confused. With a couple of post under my belt I would like to add some affiliate links and Google Adsense-am I at the wrong place? WordPress.com? WordPress.org? I bought this because of the countless reviews I read on line and now I feel like I may have made a mistake. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you for your time J-

Unfortunately, you will need to move from WordPress.com being your host if you wish to use Google AdSense.
“Advertisements from third-party ad networks like Google AdSense, OpenX, Lijit, BuySellAds, and Vibrant Media are not allowed on WordPress.com. If you’d like to run these types of ads on your blog, you may wish to try a self-hosted WordPress installation.”

The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains that have enough traffic to qualify for acceptance into the plan.

For the ability to add third party advertising to a site you’d need a self-hosted WordPress.ORG software install running on a paid web hosting service.

Here is a great source to give you some information about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Basically with WordPress.com, your site is hosted here and pretty much everything is taken care of for you with updates, security, backups etc.
With WordPress.org, you find a host for your site and use the WordPress software to create your site.
