So confused
-
I started my WordPress premium account about a month ago to make a DIY blog and at this point I am completely frustrated and confused. With a couple of post under my belt I would like to add some affiliate links and Google Adsense-am I at the wrong place? WordPress.com? WordPress.org? I bought this because of the countless reviews I read on line and now I feel like I may have made a mistake. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you for your time J-
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
With a couple of post under my belt I would like to add some affiliate links and Google Adsense-am I at the wrong place? WordPress.com? WordPress.org?
Absolutely, you are in the right place with WordPress.com. Here is a link from the Support guide to get you started on the right track to adding affiliate links to your site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/monetize-your-site/#affiliate.
Also, if you are looking to add Amazon.com in particular, this link with help you with that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-amazon-com-affiliate-links-to-your-wordpress-com-site/
Hope this helps!

Hi again,
Google Adsense-am I at the wrong place? WordPress.com? WordPress.org?
Unfortunately, you will need to move from WordPress.com being your host if you wish to use Google AdSense.
“Advertisements from third-party ad networks like Google AdSense, OpenX, Lijit, BuySellAds, and Vibrant Media are not allowed on WordPress.com. If you’d like to run these types of ads on your blog, you may wish to try a self-hosted WordPress installation.”

Thank you so much. I guess I will have to look into how to do that. Anyone know anything about .org?

Blogger initiated third party advertising is not allowed here but there are ways to make money here. Please read: Monetize Your Site https://en.support.wordpress.com/monetize-your-site/
The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains that have enough traffic to qualify for acceptance into the plan.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
http://en.wordpress.com/apply-for-wordads/
https://wordads.co/faq/Note that purchasing a Premium or Business upgrade automatically qualifies your site for WordAds.
https://wordpress.com/pricing/
https://wordpress.com/plans/Provided you are selling only what you yourself make or a providing service that you personally provide on a wordpress.COM site, or you are asking for donations you have two options.
(1) PayPal – Know that the only instructions that will work for posting a PayPal donation button on a WordPress.com blog are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
Note that the PayPal email link is not supported and PayPal customization options are not supported either https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/paypal-button-41?replies=12#post-2517229 This is not likely to be changed any time soon, if at all. Some bloggers create a contact form https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/ on a page and after the people have made a PayPal donation they provide the link to a private page for downloading files. Maybe that will work for you.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-visibility/(2) If you set up an eCommerce site somewhere else online you can create a custom menu http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/ and include a custom link to that site in it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-custom-links
If what I provided above in my first response and in my second one here at (1) and (2) do not suit you, then this guide will explain how to move your WordPress.com site to another hosting platform: Moving to Self-Hosted WordPress http://move.wordpress.com
For the ability to add third party advertising to a site you’d need a self-hosted WordPress.ORG software install running on a paid web hosting service.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

Hi again :)
Here is a great source to give you some information about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Basically with WordPress.com, your site is hosted here and pretty much everything is taken care of for you with updates, security, backups etc.
With WordPress.org, you find a host for your site and use the WordPress software to create your site.

You guys are great! Thanks for giving so much information -I have a bluehost account wouldn’t that be my host for my site? I am wondering how hard it will be to build a .org website for someone that has no coding experience
