So defeated by WP: I just want a landing page

    Literally all I want is

    (a) a background image
    (b) a text area in the center of the page
    (c) a one-field form below the text area to collect email addresses

    I have tried so many different one page themes. I tried the landing page plugin. I just cannot seem to make this happen. I am so defeated and exasperated. I have been using wordpress for years and it’s like nothing is easy on this flipping platform.

    Please, please, can you help?

    Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We cannot help with this in the WordPress.com forums.

    Please post in the self-hosted WordPress forums instead for help:

    I’d have suggested a landing page plugin, which you say you’ve already tried. If you can’t get that to work, perhaps also consider contacting support for that plugin directly. There should be a support link on the page where you downloaded that plugin, and there should also be one in the plugin details in your site’s dashboard itself.
