so Google verified my site …
-
Thanks to the good information on the forum, I finally got my site verified and Googlebots will presumable be crawling. Cool, but what additional information will I get from it and how to I access it? TIA
-
You can access it with your Google credentials.
Bassicially Google will tell you stats about your
site like broken links duplicate links & so on.Keep in mind that it’s basic information.
-
if your looking for more information centered around stats
then I recommend using site meter or statcounter.Statcounter
http://statcounter.com/site meter
http://sitemeter.com/Both are free to use.
-
Thanks, teck07, but the stats that I already get make me nuts enough : )
Welcome, Googlebots!

Uh, I spoke too soon. Damn, I knew it was too easy!
I screwed up this morning and created a POST, not a PAGE with the Google code so what do I do now? I’d like to do what justjennifer (?) did and make a child to my About page but haven’t the slightest idea how to do that.
-
Don’t panic. Just edit to change the date of the post to a few months ago, then ignore it. Google can always find it.
-
@ sensuouscurmudgeon – I did panic first, but then made a child to my About page and now that ugly google code is in my bottom bar. So the easiest thing now is to create a backdated post, like you suggested.
-
My Google recognition thingie has been a back-dated post for months. In fact, I dated it as the first post in my blog. No worries, ever. I ignore it, none of my readers has ever seen it, and Google seems to have no problem finding it.
-
I just did the same thing and am relieved to have finally gotten the verification thing out of the way. Thank you for your help, sensuouscurmudgeon.

does anyone know if its possible to use google analytics with WP, if your not using a self-host domain?? i.e. blah.wordpresscom vs. blah.com
-
No, it’s not. WP.com is already running it on our blogs, and you can’t have two installs of the same thing on one blog, so you can’t add Google Analytics.
-
ok. i just feel like the stats are not accurate, and i’ve tried to use getclicky.com but wasnt sure where to put the code, or if that would work.
