So we can't edit posts anymore?
-
So, the thread that expressed concerns about the new editor has been removed and I noticed that part of the last response said:
Features that won’t be included in the new editor
Post RevisionsUm, does that mean we won’t be able to edit posts? Because if that’s the case, then I’m packing up my blog and moving to blogger.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Apparently it means that once a post has been posted, it can’t be revised using the Beep Beep Boop Editor.
You can still revise it using the Classic Editor, though. At least for now….
-
But WordPress is trying to become Tumblr and you can edit posts on Tumblr! What reason have they given for this?
-
-
I did post a thread asking for revisions to be included in BBB but was told that they were not to be included.
However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t edit a post with BBB – it means that you can’t back-track to a previous version (revision) of the post.
I expect someone from WP (or a volunteer) will post in here telling you how you can continue using the Classic Editor without ever having to see the dreaded Beep Beep Boop on your screen.
-
What they’re doing with the editor is the equivalent of rushing into someone’s home, dismantling the appliances and ripping apart the furniture, and then saying,”In a few years we’ll give you better appliances and better furniture!”
-
I would just like to second the opinion that the Beep Beep Boop thing is really annoying and I hope there will always be an option to use the Classic Editor. I keep finding myself stuck in the BBB editor and getting very frustrated. For one thing, the editing space (i.e. the box you type in) seems to be fixed at a ridiculously small size. I hope WordPress are listening…

Staff will read and welcome your feedback and utilize any part of it they can to improve the new interface being developed that will enable the management of multiple wordpress.com and self hosted wordpress.org sites in multple devices all on the same pages. The Classic Editor will not be removed from WordPress.com. However, many of the links will continue to point to the New Editor as we continue to increase your ability to manage your sites (self-hosted or not) straight from the WordPress.com interface. You can read a bit more about this plan here: https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2014/12/16/dashboard-update/
For background and clarity please read what Staff have to say in these places:

https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/to-happiness-engineers-about-classic-editor-unanswered-question/page/2?replies=58#post-2340773As for me, I am a solution orientated person, who developed my own contingency plan a month ago. I diverted my attention away from protesting, hired a web host and set up a WordPress.ORG install, which is set to private, so I can move my domains and content if needs be. Perhaps you and others may want to look into doing the same.
- I use only the classic editor to create and edit posts so I’m not impacted by any limitations that the new editor has.
- I use only the links to the classic stats pages so I’m not impacted by any changes to the new stats pages.
- I use only a desk top computer for blogging so I am not impacted by any mobile device issues either.
As this support forum is the best place for asking and answering technical support questions and that is where my focus is, what I post below is for those who are solution orientated.
1. To use the classic editor to create posts
go to Dashboard > Posts > Add New
Here is the model so you can see the format

2. To use the classic editor when you edit posts,
go the Posts -> All Posts menu, hover over the post title and click the Edit link.http://INSERT_NAME_OF_YOUR_BLOG_HERE/wp-admin/edit.php
Here is the link to the page on your blog

* Here’s the list of post workarounds all in one place:
http://git.io/wpcom-restore-classic-ed3. To locate the legacy or classic stats pages:
If you go to the Classic Dashboard, and click the Site stats link there in the drop-down menu on the left hand side, you will be on the Classic stats pages.

https://YourImmenselyPopularWebsiteName.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=stats
https://wordpress.com/my-stats/
On my Classic Dashboard I clicked the screen options link in the top right hand corner of the page. Under “Show on screen” I clicked to include “Stats” and I have another handy way to get the classic stats display now. Maybe you ought to try these 4 suggestions that do work well for me out.
4. The workarounds to locate the legacy or classic stats pages courtesy of tpenguinltg are:
Redirect script (similar to the one for the editor) https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/8621-wordpress-com-classic-stats
Make the “Visit the old stats page…” button more visible (brings it to the top) https://userstyles.org/styles/111494/wordpress-com-old-stats-page-link-to-top
Widen the new stats page https://userstyles.org/styles/110649/wide-stats-for-new-wordpress-com-stats -
This is really helpful. I’ve actually been thinking of having a wordpress.org site for a long time, but it’s a big step and I haven’t figured it all out yet. Thanks though! :)

For one thing, the editing space (i.e. the box you type in) seems to be fixed at a ridiculously small size. I hope WordPress are listening…
Please start your own thread as Staff have requested and tag it with both modlook and new editor feedback in the tags in the sidebar of the thread. You can do that by using this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1 And, you may find that the size of the editing window may be dependent on the size of the browser screen on the device you use and the settings on it. So when you start your own thread be sure to include the following information for Staff in it:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using, your Browser Size and Screen Resolution size by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/
(c) Will you provide a screenshot for Staff please? You can use http://snag.gy/ to share screenshots and link to them in your new forum thread. -

But actually, I hope they don’t stop us from editing. I get it; they don’t like traditional bloggers. They want to be Tumblr. Okay, whatever. But errors happen on mobile quite a bit. I hope someone from WordPress understands this.

@elegantzest
There is no plan to prevent editing that we bloggers are aware of and nothing that indicates that we ought to be worrying about that happening. I already provided instructions for how to do edit in the classic mode above. However, if you are worried then maybe devoting time to developing a contingency plan is a good idea. -
You bloggers inspired my latest post in the blogging tips blog linked to my username here. It’s titled Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface.

It certainly is worrying that the Beep Beep Boop editor has limited capabilities for editing, and that WP seems to be directing users toward using that editor.

Hi there,
I spent nigh on to a month worrying as I worked through my process – no more of that for me!I’m not going to be deep in the trenches trying to use the new interface at all. I am above the clouds using all the shortcuts to the classic pages now see: Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface. And, I have a contingency plan in place while I’m developing a second one.
