Social and Twitter Timeline Widgets Only Display When Logged In

I have added the twitter timeline widget from Jetpack and the social widget. They both display fine when I’m logged in, but not when logged out or just visiting the page. I have added visibility settings for show when logged in and show when logged out and this doesn’t help. I have emptied cache. Very frustrating.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Okay here’s how I fixed this. This issue was occurring on multiple browsers, even those that never viewed the page. After trying everything I basically gave up. So I went back to writing and published a new post and everything started working automagically. I’m guessing this was a cache issue on the WP side and not on my browser end? I should clear WP cache when making widget changes? Yes? No? Thanks! :)

It looks like the site you need help with is a self-hosted site that is built on WordPress.org. This forum is for help with WordPress.com. You can read about the differences between the two here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

WordPress.org has its own support forum at https://wordpress.org/support/ where you’ll have better luck getting your issue resolved.

  • Hi there,

It does sound like a caching issue, yes, though as a rule the cache should update at regular intervals so you shouldn’t need to flush it manually each time you make a change.

Site caching is controlled on your hosting provider’s end, so please contact them to make sure it’s correctly configured on your site. You can also ask in the self-hosted forums for more advice, but I’d recommend you avoid caching plugins as those often cause conflicts with your host’s configuration. Best to fix this server-side, from what I’ve read about this.
