social icons @ altofocus
-
I am using ”Altofocus” WordPress theme. In the description it says that I can put social icons in the footer. I’ve tried eveyrthing but nothing works. What’s up? It doesn’t seem to be an option to put it there in the first place. Only in the footer of posts it’s possible. While on the Live Demo of Altofocus you can see social icons on the homepage, and every footer. ”AltoFocus displays a social links menu in the footer that uses icons to help readers to connect your social media profiles on sites like Twitter and Facebook.” https://wordpress.com/theme/altofocus

Hi there,
What happens when you go to Menus->Social Media and add your desired social icons? and have you enabled Menu Location to Social Menu when you go to Menus->Social Media?
Thank you.

Hello, herewith the link to my blog: https://moretosea.nl/. As you can see there are no social icons in the footer. But when you click on a post, social icons do appear in ”the footer”. I’d like to have the social icons on the homepage in the actual footer. Any idea? :) Thanks for your time!

Hi there,
As @mommyhive indicated above, and as indicated in the theme instructions you linked to, you need to use a custom menu to do this. Create a new custom menu and assign it to the theme’s social menu, and then add your social media links as custom links to the menu. The icons are generated automatically based on the link you add.
There are no WordPress.com sites in the account you’re using to post here. If you’re using the theme on a self-hosted WordPress site, please provide a link to the site so we can take a look.

Ok, tried that. Unfortunately, my theme only supports one menu (Display Location: top location is the only option…) which is now my top menu. I am quite suprised by this because the theme info suggests that I can create a social menu in the footer… Should I then try to create an additional menu location? Any advice on how to do this? I used youtube a bit but no success.

I’ve actually just tried downloading it from that as well as from the WordPress.org repository, and I do see the social menu in both, under Customize > Menus > View All Locations.

I downloaded it via SiteGround and I don’t have the ”View all locations” option.. weird right?

@klein070, moretosea.nl is showing as hosted at Siteground and not hosted here at WordPress.com. Do you have the Jetpack Plugin installed and connected on that site? That plugin is required for the Social Media menu.
