  I intend to eventually upgrade to the paid version, but my domain cannot be transferred for 2 months. At this time I am using the free version. I am wanting to know if there is a way to add social media share buttons in the free version. Please let me know if that is possible and if so, how. Thanks!

  Yes, you can add media share buttons even in the free plan. You can add the share button to any post or page so the readers can share your content on multiple social media platforms. Please check the below guide to add the share button:-
