Social Media 'Followers' widget does NOT include my Facebook followers.

My WordPress site Social media ‘Followers’ count on the front page once included WordPress, Email, Twitter and Facebook followers. 3 days ago the count instantly dropped all my Facebook followers. I looked in the stats and found that Facebook was no longer on the WordPress social media list. The graphic for the WordPress widget for Facebook still shows the Facebook count of followers … and in the Publicize section my WordPress blogs hits Facebook (and Twitter) when I press ‘Publish.’ Question: why aren’t my Facebook followers included any more in my WordPress Social Media follower count?

Could you just try to re-connect with Facebook and try to check it again if the followers appear or don’t? Here is the guide to explain it

hi, I have the exact same problem! And it started around the same time as well. I have disconnected and reconnected multiple times but to no avail. Funny thing is if I connect my fb profile those numbers get included, but the fb page followers – a significantly larger number – does not show the followers and the number does not show up in my insights page as well.. Please help.

I did the reconnect carefully as outlined. The Facebook graphic carries the same numbers from Facebook (112). … I have 8 WordPress, 4 email and 21 Twitter followers making up my 33 followers in the WordPress home page sidebar. … I had 100+ Facebook followers that disappeared as well as the Facebook service from my stats page services. Only Twitter is listed there. … I’m still on the outside looking in …

Hi there,
Facebook made some recent changes to their API that provides the follower information to our system, and that’s what caused this feature to break.
But we made a change on our end about an hour ago to fix this, so follower counts should return to normal again soon.
If it doesn’t update on your site automatically and reconnecting Facebook doesn’t help, please reply here with a link to your site and I can take a look.
