social media shortcodes

I regularly use the twitter shortcode, e.g.
[tweet https://twitter.com/MQGem/status/1497198466921074688]I was wondering whether there was an equivalent for Linked In? There is an embed option from the LinkedIn platform, but WordPress doesn’t seem to automatically change the
iframecode into a shortcode, so I guess that’s not the way to do it.I have tried searching the wordpress.com help for it, but I struggled to find the help for the above twitter shortcode (it’s hidden away on page 2 – https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/twitter-block/2/) so given I struggled to find something I knew existed, I may have easily missed it.

Hi Morag,
I’m not sure of what the Linkedin embed looks like, but based on what you’ve said I would guess it’s something like this: http://LINKED%20IN%20URL
Have you tried using the Embed Block with the Lined In URL that is in the iFrame src? https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/embed-block/
If that works for you great. If not, please post a follow-up and we’ll see if anybody else has any ideas.
Cheers,

I tried using the embed block, and pasted in the LinkedIn URL, and all it did was show me the URL I pasted in. It didn’t display the posted in an embedded way. I suspect this means that LinkedIn is not supported by the embed block (certainly it is not listed as being a supported on in the page you supplied). Perhaps WordPress just don’t ‘do’ LinkedIn, as there doesn’t seem to be a short code either, which is what I was hoping for.
It doesn’t help that they still haven’t fixed the problem about using the new editor not allowing you to save. Perhaps I should raise that again. If the answer to questions going forward are going to be, “use this block” or “use that block” they really ought to fix it so that all people can use blocks and save their posts.

I did a little more looking around and testing and unless something has changed, it seems as if the answer is it doesn’t work.

Thanks for looking into this further. That is a shame. Is there a way to raise a feature request for a LinkedIn shortcode?
