Social menu mail icon

  I have a premium account and the purpose of this post is to change an icon in the social links menu in the footer.

  1. Perhaps by installing the “better font awesome” plugin, which I have knowledge to do so, but I have downloaded FileZilla to access the file directory and upload a plugin, unfortunately it gives me an error that I cannot contact to my site.

  2. Or with you help through CSS, telling me how to do it.

  After reading the forum, I realized that there is some kind of activation that needs to be done before FTP accessing it, perhaps you can help me to do so? Or help install WP File Manager instead if that would be a lot easier .

  Could you help me to do so or find a way to change the icon, suggesting wether to go with option 1 or 2?

  I managed to do it this way

  .menu-item.envelope-icon a:before {
  content: url(https://mzereba.files.wordpress.com/2017/01/envelope-icon.png);
  }

  adding envelope-icon in the CSS classes, but it doesn’t look clean, the image is a bit shifted to the left.

  The idea is to do it as suggested in this post

  but the content: "f0e0" shows a square instead.

  Any idea what I am doing wrong?

  Hi @mzereba!

  Are you trying to do this on mzereba.net? or mzereba.com?

  mzereba.com is a WordPress.com hosted site, which means you will not use plugins or FTP to make changes to the site. In addition, this site does not have a Premium Plan or Business Plan, so you wouldn’t have access to the necessary Custom CSS to make the change you’ve described :)

  mzereba.net looks like a self hosted WordPress site (meaning it isn’t hosted here on WordPress.com). That makes it a little different than the sites this particular forum is geared towards.

  On that site, I see the mail icon you’ve described in the footer. If you’re still having trouble, you’ll want to post in the self hosted support forums at http://WordPress.org/support :)
