Social share numbers not accurate
-
My Facebook social share stats are not correct, for some posts they are accurate but for others such as my latest one and several others they aren’t registering at all. What can I do to fix this? Blog: christinekenyi.wordpress.com
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The share numbers on your icons reflect only the shares that were made by those who actually clicked into your posts on your blog and clicked the share icon there.
Post the URLs of any posts that you consider the share counts to be inaccurate on here please.

https://christinekenyi.wordpress.com/2014/12/29/travel-diaries-incredible-india/ This should have at least 10-15 facebook shares

These are all posts that I know for certain should have facebook shares but show no count.
Any assistance you could give to rectify this would be great! Thanks. -
We are seeing some issues with the Facebook share buttons because of the way they track URL differences between http and https. It sounds like this is the issue you’re seeing. We’re working on getting this fixed with Facebook.
-
Ah I see. Thanks. Any idea if a solution with facebook will involve getting those inaccurate share counts rectified or are they gone for good?
-
It’s not clear which direction the fix will go yet. We’re hoping to get Facebook to update their URL tracking to support https, which should allow us to restore the previous share counts.

My blog ‘The Nahmias Cipher Report‘ has a Facebook social media share button at the bottom of every post.
The issue is that the share button won’t display the number of FB shares above 10K+. I currently have three posts with this issue, two of the post have 12K+ shares, and another has 11K+ post shares.
For whatever reason, the FB share button on the site caps out at 10K+. What is the issue and can you help me fix it?
Thanks for your assistance

I’m very new to blogging, but have been noticing that the Facebook share numbers on the blog post share buttons disappear after a certain time so that older posts show 0 shares, while the newer posts seem to be accurate. Every other day or so, the last post that had numbers will be reset to zero. What can I do to fix this?

There’s no definite fix for this issue yet. I’m still tracking the conversations our devs are having about it and I’ll let you all know as soon as we’ve got a fix in place.

Same here, posts since January are not accurately showing Facebook shares/comments/likes, as they always have. My blog is http://shittytittiebangbang.com

I have the same problem: no number of facebook shares is displayed. My blog is: http://www.evzone.com (blog.stefaniademetz.com).

Same here, all likes are disappeared: https://travelingaroundtravelingtoself.wordpress.com/

Me too, my shares disappeared when I upgraded. So I understand that it’s a different URL, but I’m not sure I would have upgraded had I known this would happen : (
Sorry, I started a separate thread with this also. Apologies for my impatience… -
This is the site: http://expatsomebody.com
It’s the Facebook & Twitter shares that have gone back to zero.
Thanks v much for any assistance. I see your reply above: “hoping to get Facebook to update their URL tracking to support https, which should allow us to restore the previous share counts”. -
Honestly, as a professional digital journalist, getting a custom domain is absolutely the right choice. The earlier the better. Social share counts going down is a bummer, as is the temporary loss of google juice, but in the long run it’s always the right decision.
Your readers don’t really care about your social shares, but your competitors do. Just tell them you reset the counters to zero so you could analyze the new shares on the new URL. They don’t have to know it wasn’t exactly intentional.

Thanks, Raincoaster. I’m sure you’re right, but I’m just bummed because I’m a newbie & things were going pretty well, considering the genre, & now it doesn’t look so hot… EJ x
