    Hello ,
    I created my first site (www.vzhalle.wordpress.com) and downloaded the software also on my desktop ! Till now everything no great troubles, but when I click on the help of my program on the desktop it’s showing me that I’am working with the version 1.3.4…..
    I saw that the latest released version is 4.5.3….
    Question : what is the easiest way to obtain the latest version and install this on my pc(without troubles or impact to the existing site ? I’am using Windows 10 !
    I downloaded already a zip file with the latest version but after unpacking it’s creating folders like wp-dmin on my file system on my desktop ….. No setup/install files found .
    Can someone give me a tip please ? I’am a beginner website-creator .

    The version of WordPress software every wordpress.COM site runs on is the most recent one. https://wordpress.org/

    Here, at wordpress.COM our Staff do all version upgrades for us users, and they are done 1 month before they are released to wordpress.ORG users.

    If you are reading anything other than the relevant support documentation here http://support.wordpress.com that applies to all wordpress.COM hosted blogs like your site then toss it away as it does not apply to your site.

    So conclusion is that I’am using the latest version(in background) and the information obtained while clicking help-about WordPress doesn’t matter(showing version 1.3.4) .

    vzhalle you are confusing the WordPress.com app, that runs on your computer with the software that runs on the WordPress.com site.

    The app on your computer is WordPress.com 1.3.4. The software running on the WordPress.com servers (a different thing completely) is version 4.5.3.

    They are two different pieces of software.

    I was just wondering if I’am using the right/latest version and seems this is the case.
    For the rest everything is running smoothly, no troubles at all : I can update the site from the 2 ways : via my desktop version(1.3.4) and with the version via https………. admin-wp/index.php . Some screens are different but no problem !
