Soho Theme Portfolio Text looks clustered
-
Hi! I am trying to get my website JUST right.
My latest thing is that it seems all the text is overlapping and is really clustered on my individual pages featuring portfolios. What I mean is see the “What Happens When Sharks Disappear” title on this page? Its really clustered: https://lilywilliamsart.com/illustration/
Another example is all the text here: https://lilywilliamsart.com/short-films/Right now I am interested if there is a CSS short code to make the text more legible… AND if possible to take the descriptions out. It seems messy and I would like it if it could just be the title instead of having a description.
The scrolling seems to be really slow as well. It feels laggy. Is there a way to make it faster?
Thank you so much for all the help I have been getting from the Happiness Engineers! I am so pleased with how clean my site is looking.

Hi there,
Please try adding this CSS to fix the clustered titles and text:
.wf-active h2, .portfolio-featured-image + .portfolio-entry-title { line-height: 1em; } .portfolio-entry-content { line-height: 1.2em; }Hope it helps =)

That is fantastic!! Thank you! It looks much better.
Is there a way to choose if the captions appear under the images and titles? Like here: https://lilywilliamsart.com/short-films/

Hi there, captions do not appear with featured image, such as on the page you reference, and this is not something that can be changed with CSS. It would require modifications to the theme php script files, and we cannot do that at WordPress.com.
-
Okay. So there is no way to limit the text underneath the title on pages like that?
I talked to a Happiness Engineer about the lagging of the scroll bar. Is there a way to speed it up? It feels like there is a drag to it.

AND if possible to take the descriptions out. It seems messy and I would like it if it could just be the title instead of having a description.
You can hide the short blurb anytime you use the portfolio shortcode with this CSS:
.jetpack-portfolio-shortcode .portfolio-entry-content p { display: none; }I’ll report the scrollbar lagginess to the theme’s developer so they can have a look.
-
Thank you! That works beautifully.
Thank you also for submitting the scrollbar lagginess. I find it distracting and hope it can be resolved soon.
-
Glad that works! We’ll keep you posted about the laggines.
FYI, as a premium theme, Soho has its own forum that you can also feel free to use for any theme issues, and the developer will help you directly:
