Some Avatars Quit Working!
-
Some of the avatars that worked on my blog are no longer working. What has caused the change?
Thank you,

Have you ever had avatars in your blog? Not all themes support avatars in the first place.
-
Sorry about that. Here’s my blog: http://newleaven.com. Two of my commenters avatars are not working while the others are. It’s rather odd.
-
Thanks. Over the past 18 hours several other people have reported this. I see you’re using the “Monster” style avatars for unassigned avatars. I wonder if the others are as well. Can you give us a specific link to one of the commenter avatars that used to work that now does not (the datestamp of the comment is the link to that specific comment, so just post that link here).
-
Raincoaster, thanks. I don’t know what you mean by “the datestamp of the comment,” but here’s the link to the post and the name of the commenter: http://newleaven.com/2008/06/27/im-going-back-to-my-snapshots/#comments and Nathan Stitt. I hope that works.

Ah, on your theme it’s different. It’s the NUMBER of the comment, not the date/time that is the link. Like this:
http://newleaven.com/2008/06/27/im-going-back-to-my-snapshots/#comment-1120Anyway, things will appear like that if someone is not signed in, AND Wp.com has had problems with people staying signed in since Friday (bugs always show up on Friday: it’s traditional at WP.com). So I would contact staff on Monday and give them those links, along with the info that the bloggers were signed in at the time of posting. It’s something staff themselves will have to fix.
I’ve noticed it only happens with certain bloggers on my site. Seems like it’s the same for you. Must be related to the servers on which their avatars are located, I think.

Thanks, Raincoaster. I’ll forward the issue to staff. Well, it’s good to know that I’m not the only one with the problem.
