Some blog configurations (tags and others)
-
Hey,
So I’m setting up the website http://www.ear-drop.com with some friends and although the shell is all made I can’t seem to figure out some of these issues we’ve been trying to resolve over the past couple of weeks (I’m usually able to fix any website problems after 10 minutes of google but some of this stuff is non-intuitive). Thank you for any help or guidance!
1) I understand some of the basic differences between posts and pages but I need display two different things in that row of links at the top. I’ve been making all of these posts of different songs and artists with the different tags accordingly and now I want someone to be able to click on “Party” or “Chill” or “Vibe” and have a list of every single post with that tag (we could also make it categories I suppose). At the same time I would want to keep the playlists tab and about us where it would be a static page that we could modify as we see fit (but still keep them in the same horizontal navigation bar as the others)
2) Can someone explain to me what a post is? We have been making what we thought were posts for the length of this blog, but now that were using adsense and through using different plugins trying to add a adsense add at the end of 3 random posts a page. However, they are only showing up on the now static pages Party, Chill, Vibe and About us. Why won’t any of the programs recognize our individual posts as actual posts and display the ads on them?
3) I managed to remove the main title and link to our websites EARDROP, but I can’t figure out for the life of me how to hide the text “The Hottest Songs You’ve Never Heard” and the solid white bar above it in the orange banner on the left. Is there a quick fix or a way to edit one of the files w/ FTP to remove it?
4) When I add the normal widgets I would be using, they show up on all of the new empty pages I’ve created but not the home page; is that set of side-bar widgets managed separately and if so how is it accessed?
5) Will a flash page (especially flash) hurt us long run with bandwith and search results (google’s evaluation)?
Thanks again for all of the help, once these issues are all sorted out we can move forward and focus on what really matters!
