Some blog posts not showing despite set at show 15

  • Unknown's avatar

Appear to have ‘lost’ visibility of first 2-3 posts I posted on my site. I have posts set to show at 15 (on “latest posts on homepage”) but they are not there. Only 10 posts showing. I have cleared cache, resaved permalinks etc. but still no joy.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I do see hwen i hover over posts to display, that it says some themes may over ride the number of posts displayed. So for Hevor theme, is that less than 15? If so, it looks like 10. So then how do I set up a full archive of posts that’s accessible to the reader?

  • Hi there. Sounds like you were able to identify the limitation with the theme you’re using. I see it’s Morden, an older theme that has restrictions like this. You have a couple of options:

    1. You can create a custom blog posts page using a Blog Posts block or Query Loop block, which will show up to 100 posts once you’ve configured it.
    2. You can look at switching to any of our newer themes, which gives you much more control over how much content the default blog posts page shows. With a Business plan or higher, you can set up a staging site to test the changes before pushing them to your live site.

    Hope that helps!

Are you saying that the OP needs to PAY for a SUBSCRIPTION in order to get more blog posts to show?

  • I can see how that might have come across that way! The custom blog posts page suggestion is something they can do with their existing theme, and there are ways to test a new theme without using a staging site.

Here’s how you can test a new theme without any upgrades (including on free sites):

    1. Visit Appearance → Themes in your site’s dashboard.
    2. Click on a thumbnail for a theme you want to check out.
    3. Click either Preview to see how the default theme looks and then at the top-right of the preview there will be a “Try & Customize” link to see how that theme looks with your site’s content.

There are screenshots of where those buttons are in this guide on changing your theme.

Thank you for your question, @cadman777! You allowed me to clarify that you do not need a paid subscription to change your theme or preview new themes.
