Some blogposts don’t show images
-
Hello…
Earlier this year I imported my blog from a self hosted wp to the one I have now..and at that time everything worked. But I now get messages from readers that the images on some blogposts aren’t showing…and Yepp..they are right… have no clue what’s happened since I haven’t done anything to the blog recently.
This is an example of one of several blogposts that don’t have images:
It’s just a white square with a code inside.
So… what to do…it scares me …I really need help! Please.

Hi there!
When you import your content from an XML file, the images are copied as paths to the original file.
If the path is not there anymore (the self-hosted site was deleted), the images will stop showing. If that’s the case, you’ll want to re-add those files directly to your posts.
Let us know if you need assistance with anything else.

Thankyou…
So what I need to do is to upload all the missing images to media library and insert them again… is this what I need to do?Phew!
Arghhh!Could this have been avoided in some way? Have I done it all wrong in the beginning?
I imported way back in time my first blog from blogger to the self hosted wp blog, those pictures are still on my WordPress.com blog… but the blogger blog is still up and running… so if I delete that one…you say that those early images will also be erased? But those I see in media library….😅… the others I don’t… not even the last posts and those are made after the import from wp.
I’m devastated!!
This definitely would and should be addressed in some way … maybe they are but I didn’t see it anyway …Oh my!! This will take forever to repair… 😓

If the images are in fact missing from the library, yes. But looking at the post you link to above, it looks like the image did import.
Is this the correct image that should show there?
That image is in your library, but the post is trying to fetch it from its old location at http://kviltstina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/OoaDM5qLYPuGekAO.jpg instead. So the image imported, but the link referenced in the post’s HTML never updated during the import.
Can you give links to two or three more posts that are missing images so we can confirm that the same thing is going on there? If so, we might be able to fix this for you by just forcing those links in the HTML to update to point to your site’s media library instead.
I can’t promise it will fix 100% of the broken images, but it’s worth a shot, and might save you from having to fix everything manually.

If the images correctly imported to the media library, and the HTML in the posts correctly pointing to the image location in the library rather than on Blogger, then deleting the Blogger site won’t have any effect.
This only happens if 1) the images weren’t imported at all, or 2) if they were imported, but the HTML not correctly updated.

Hello…
No…the picture isn’t right..it’s from an older blogpost from 2011. The link I posted was from 2015.
Here is other links:
What a mess this became…phew!
Fingers crossed that this can be done something about! Otherwise blogging from 2013 is gone… sigh. Thanks for trying to help…😀

Hi there,
I have start the attachment backfill process for your site which will complete the import of any images we have attachments for, but whose URLs haven’t been switched in posts yet. It will take a moment to complete.
Let me know in a few hours if you do not see the images.
Thanks,

Hah, well that is one image closer to our goal! It may take a bit longer, but I want to check back later and see if there is anything other than the one image that migrated over. Keeping my fingers cross that they will.

Morning here…
Seems nothing have happened.
Sadly no images on any posts from when I started to blog on my wp blog spring 2013 to spring 2019 except for a few images here and there though.
All blogger import is there (2007-spring 2013) with images.
Oh my! 😓

Ok. Let’s try this. Can you put the export file in to Dropbox for me? I can download it from there and see how many image files are included in the export. Thanks!

It’s a way to share files for free. https://www.dropbox.com/
I should’ve included a link in my reply. That’s not your fault :) -

Will see if this works … I’m such a smart head at times … NOT! 🙈

Okay, let’s just backtrack a bit.
I’ve checked the three posts you gave above, and the images for those do not appear in your media library at all. This means the images were never transferred from your previous host when you imported those posts, and that means there’s no way for us to fix this.
As your original site is also no longer online at your domain we can’t force a re-import of those images either, as they no longer exist at the original media URLs referenced in your posts.
So in this case I’m afraid there’s nothing more we’re able to do – the import file you have does not contain the images themselves, only links to where those images were stored in the original site’s media library, so that cannot be used to re-import the images.

God morning…
Well that was an aaargh moment!!!
Did ask on the wp site when transferring that my pics didn’t show in library… but never got an answer… so I thought it was ok!
Oh happy day… at least I now know what to do this winter… lol!
Thanks for trying to help.
