Some iFrames do not work, others do – what’s the difference?
-
Hello!
I’m using 2 iframes on my blog (hosted on wordpress.com) using the ‘Classic mode’ in a block on a static page. This one works:
This one does not:
Why?
Thanks,
Tim -
Hi Tim,
Some embed codes will not work because we do not allow certain tags on WordPress.com, for security reasons, including JavaScript, Flash, iframe, form, and input tags.
These restrictions are in place to prevent any disruptions in service due to potentially malicious code. You can read more about this here:

Thanks for the quick reply!
But it does not yet make fully sense to me.
I’m using TWO “i-frame” commands in TWO blocks. One is embedding a Google Map, the other a weather forecast from wetter.tv.
The former works, the later does not. WHY?
Feel free to check my page here: http://nielangeweile.de/planner below heading “Garmisch Classic, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, BY”Best,

The information provided earlier only applies to sites hosted at WordPress.com. Your site is hosted somewhere else and will be using the WordPress.org software. The correct support forum for you requires you to register an account and ask for further advice at

Sorry for the confusion, but my site IS HOSTED on WORDPRESS.COM:
(But I have set up a redirect in my domain’s configuration portal so that it shows the content from my site on wordpress.com)Could you please look into my issue again?
Thanks,
Tim -
https://nielangeweile.travel.blog/ shows a padlock and SSL. Your other domain won’t show SSL unless your WordPress.com site is upgraded to a paid plan so you can map that domain to the WordPress.com site and make it the primary domain.

Thanks again!
Nevermind my domain redirection that I set up on my hosting service’s side.
Let’s just take a look at my workpress.com site and page https://nielangeweile.travel.blog/planner/Why does my iframe embedding content from Google Maps work, but my iframe embedding content from wetter.tv does not?

We cannot guarantee that forwarded or masked domains will work properly on WordPress.com sites:
There are two ways to properly use a domain you already owns with a site hosted at WordPress.com:
Mapping allows you to keep the domain registered with your current domain registrar and direct it to your WordPress.com site: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/
A transfer would allow to manage both your site and domain from the same place: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/

Sorry, our replies crossed.
As mentioned earlier by my colleague https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/some-iframes-do-not-work-others-do-whats-the-difference/#post-3611481 not all embeds will work.
Google Maps works because we support that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/google-maps/
Wetter.tv does not work because we do not support that.

Hi!
Thanks for the clarification.
I guess that was the answer I was looking for.
Is there a way you could add wetter.tv so that a free plan user like me can add a weather forecast to my site?
Thanks,
