Some new posts via e-mail appear to be spam
-
I’ve received a few notifications from a blog I follow. Originally a link worked, but only had a counter and a link. I didn’t click on the link, although I notified the blog’s owner and she doesn’t recall any post being made. She then told me she had received notification that my blog had posted a similar entry.
The link is as follows: http://lornasvoice.wordpress.com/2011/12/16/2948/
Post no longer exists and has been cleaned up.
What’s going on?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Could be someone got your post by email address or your email program or account or PC has been compromised –
Disable your Post by email on your blog / generate a new address. Change the password on your blog to a long one – change your email password to a long one, check your PC for problems – you can also ask the staff to look at the address the email posts came from – check to make sure you have no extra users on your account that are not authorized.

The spam post came from my account. It was a free flag counter. The moment I saw it, I trashed it and posted that the most recent post was spam (in an effort to alert my subscribers not to open it).
Should I do anything to my account and or email to protect myself from this kind of thing? This is the first time a post has appeared on my blog that I didn’t generate.
Thanks.

Change your password and use only a secure password. Do not use one that can be guessed. Do not provided access to that password to anyone. If you have others using the same computer be sure that your log out each and every time you leave your blog.
Are there others who have access to your computer? security tips > http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/ -
Thanks! No one else uses my computer, but I’ll change my password to something super-secure–something my dog won’t even guess.
Hopefully this was a fluke and I won’t have to deal with this again.
Again, thanks,
Lorna
