Some of my categories are gone
-
Hi,
Everything was working fine, but just today some of my categories disappear from the sidebar after publishing an entry. I do not know why. When I go to individual postings, I can see all the categories, so the info is there, is just that on the sidebar is not properly displayed.
Any idea why?

Thanks!

I am also experiencing this problem, mainly with some of my subcategories not showing up in the sidebar widget (i.e. “breastfeeding” is not showing up as a subcategory of “parenting 101” even though there is a post with that tag).

Well seems this is a global wordpress.com issue. Al most all of my subcategories are gone. I hope come back soon :)

I’m having this problem too. Tha vast majority of my categories, especially most (though not all) of my subcategories are gone from “Manage Categories.” I hope someone from wordpress.com sees this thread soon and can explain to us what’s going on.

Also having the same problem. I hope this is some server error – they won’t even let us add categories! Thanks. :)

I believe all of you are experiencing a problem that will require a technical fix that only staff can provide. I think your option may be to wait awhile and see if this clears up and if it doesn’t then send in emails to support (at) this domain (dot) com.

I have the same problem.
I can’t even find the sub-categories when I check my [Manage Categories]…
Do I have to wait for the system to restore them? or do I have to re-create them myself? -
Don’t touch – delete – add anything until it’s fixed. If you check on your entries all the categories are still listed in there except for your archives under Manage Categories. I, too freaked out so just stay put. (like, how long? hehehe).

I also have this problem, and I hope WordPress are reading this and fix the problem quick smart – I have lost all the sub-categories from one major category only. This happened after I added some more major categories, and first I thought there was a limit to the number of catagories thart you can have, but I cannot find this defined anywhere. Now when I try to add them back in, it say “Something strange happened. Try refreshing the page.”, which acually does NOTHING !!!!!!

It’s happening to me too:
The categories (or subcategories) are missing from the sidebar widget.
When writing a post, some but not all of the missing ones show up as checkboxes like normal.
In the ‘manage categories’ tab all the ones missing from the sidebar do not show up there either.
Looking through forum posts from last year, this appears to be a recurring bug… -
My subcategories also disappeared…
They don’t show in sidebar widget and Manage part.
I can see tags in my posts, however when I clicked on them, it linked to WordPress user homepage. :(
Hope this could be fixed soon… -
Yep, same here – subcategories have disappeared from the sidebar widget and from “manage categories”.

Just another voice to add. Same problem here. The post remains but the categories are no longer there. I use the ScribeFire extension to blog sometimes and the sub-category does appear. But on the WordPress Manage/Categories tab, the categories disappear.
