Some themes show an Image Carousel, but don't tell how to use them!
-
Hey guys,
It’s been a good long while since I’ve done anything with WP and I need some help!
I’ve been looking at a few free themes, mainly Skylark, Sight, Hero and Twenty Fourteen, and these all have image carousels at the top of the page.
How on Earth do I get this to work? Whenever I’ve tried the “carousel” never shows up!
Thanks guys,
-Jake!

Hi jakeg92,
I tried using these themes myself and checked their documentation/support on how to use the image carousels you’re referring to. Basically you need to make a post, make it a sticky post and set a featured image.
Sticky Posts

To add to the good advice from @elzrjose it’s useful to to know that in addition to the theme demos to which you linked, each theme has a description page (like this one for Skylark: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/skylark/) that explains how to use it’s special features. It also has helpful info about how to size images for the theme etc.
From the theme showcase, if you click on the name of the theme when you hover over it, you’ll go to the info page rather than the demo.
Hope you find a theme you love!

note: to get to the full theme details you have to start from the full themes page: http://theme.wordpress.com/
If you browse theme from appearance>themes on your dashboard, there is no obvious way to get to the theme’s full detail page.

Note that some themes say “Carousel” which implies motion, when they actually mean “Slider” which does not move unless someone clicks on the arrow buttons. Antenna is one such theme.
