Some unable to comment, why?
-
Some other bloggers (using other sites/their own hosting/etc.) are unable to comment. They do not have wordpress accounts, but when they go to make a comment on my blog they are prompted to “sign in”. I found the box and unchecked it for allowing only wordpress members to comment – but still they can’t comment with just filling in name/email/url. Help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This page > Settings > Discussion is where you set up defaults for comments.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/Discussion Settings
Other comment settings
_Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
_Users must be registered and logged in to commentNote that the prompt will still appear but providing an email address and logging in are not required. You can post instructions in a text widget if you wish.
Will you confirm those settings for us please?
See here for more information on the recent update to commenting as it may be helpful > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/you-must-be-logged-in-to-comment/page/11?replies=327#post-852388

Possible that that link helped out. Waiting to find out if any of them were ever members of WP.com or gravatar and that being the problem…

Because, yes. I did try to change the other settings, and still some were prompted to log in.

Thank you, that link explained it well enough, I shared the info with those having issues. It turns out they do have old accts with wp and/or gravatar.
