Some users see question marks instead of images

Some users of my site see question marks instead of pictures when visiting the site. Or they see only some of the photos in a gallery. what is up?

That may mean they are running outdated browser versions and they need to upgrade them which can be done here http://browsehappy.com.
Note: If they are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
IE8 is supported but that won’t last forever as Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP after April.
Or it may mean they are viewing the blog on a device that’s not equipped with Flash.
Or it may mean they need to update their Flash. See here for confirming Flash is updated http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and if required installing the latest version of Flash can be done here http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

Or it may mean you deleted the images from your media library: the questionmarks on your front page give a File Not Found response.

The images are all in the library right now. I just tried the site myself when not logged on to WordPress and I see the pages but the header image doesn’t show up. The rest of the images seem fine.
I tried the site from a friend’s laptop and after typing in the url I was taken to the log on page.
This is different from the initial problem of the ? marks but that is still an issue for another user. Very flakey.

When I look at your site at http://samswoodenbowls.wordpress.com/ I am able to see your images and your header. Are you still having a problem with how your site is displaying? Could you point me to the problem image(s)?

I deleted some images now they are showing as X’s with question marks on my blog. Can anyone assist with this? Thanks a lot

Don’t delete them. You will have to re-upload those images and insert them and delete the now-deleted image code.

I thnk things have resolved themselves. The missing piece of info for troubleshooters here is that just before all this flakey behavior occurred I transferred the blog. I changed the domain name withing wordpress.com. I think that it took some time for all of the servers to be updated with this change and as a result at some times the images were still under the old name and were not visible. Today I checked the site and had to update the header image so that it would show up on the pages. And the images all were there for my test users. So we sent out a link to the site to a number of people and have had no complaints. Thanks for all of your suggestions.
