Some W3 site (???) Denied access due to Abuse?????

    Hello people,

    I just got the weirdest thing…. I must have clicked on some link or button without realizing in the right hand side bar, but anyhow I got this page:

    Forbidden due to abuse
    Access to this resource is denied due to abuse from your IP address.
    W3C Webmaster
    $Date: 2012/05/02 00:22:10 $

    I then clicked on the link “due to abuse from your IP address” and I got this page:

    “W3C Help

    IP blocked due to re-requesting files too often
    Your IP address has been blocked from accessing our site for 2 hours due to abuse.

    The specific type of abuse we observed is: re-requesting the same resource too frequently. Specifically, we received at least 150 requests for the same resource (URI) from your IP address within a ten-minute time interval.

    If you are using an application that makes HTTP requests to other sites, please configure it to use an outgoing HTTP cache instead of re-requesting the same files over and over again.

    If you are a corporate user, please check with your network administrators who should be able to determine the source of the excessive traffic coming from your network. (please refer them to this page)

    Once the issue has been resolved, you will be removed from our blocklist automatically within 24 hours; there is no need to contact us in order to be delisted.

    What for Pete’s sake is all this then? I am not aware of abusing anyone or anything, just writing in my blog, that’s all.
    I scrutinized the section of the editor where I must have landed my mousepointer to trigger this craziness, but nothing that I click on now triggers the same page(s)

    Can anyone shed a light on this issue please?

    Hi there,

    The error message you shared does not sound familiar, and is not a message originating from WordPress.com that I can see.

    Can you tell me a bit more about the trouble you are having? Were you viewing your site (as a visitor might) or performing some admin task like editing? Which site is this for? I see you have a few on your account. Is the issue with all your sites, or only a specific one?

    Hi!

    Now things are really messed up, please please help me get my blog back in order!

    I was clicking on everything in the right hand side bar to find out how I got the “abuse page”, and guess what the sidebar suddenly moved to the bottom of the editor!!!
    And now I cannot get it back to the side, please tell me how, this is so upsetting.

    This is what I mean, this is what used to be a right hand side:

    Please don’t leave me alone with this awful messed up editor! I just can’t get the darn page section to get back to where it was! It looks like my poor blog is all broken now, please help to fix it!

    My goodness, I have been clicking and tried with drag&drop but nothing works, just nothing! This is driving me nuts. Please help.

    Wait, stop the presses, I got the section back to the side bar, by clicking on the little up arrow – only I had ALREADY clicked on it umpteen times and it did not go to the side bar.

    Back to the main problem, the strange web pages that sudden intruded when I was writing in my blog.

    By now I have clicked on each and every link and button to be found on the Editor page, and I cannot reproduce the errant page.
    I do, vaguely, recall having just added a tag, when the intruder popped up.

    I think the issues you’re facing is because the theme in use is now retired:

    I would recommend that this be changed via Design > Themes > and pick an appropriate theme.

    Apologize for the outburst of panic, so stupid.

    I am fearful to choose a new theme for then I shall surely be “updated” with the new block editor and I can guarantee that that would make me very unhappy en drive me away from WP.

    Currently, looking at your site, the block editor is currently in use, so this wouldn’t change with a new theme.

    Thank you very much for the link.

    I shall slowly and thoroughly work my way through the information behind it, and then decide whether or not I shall begin using the block editor (although I am very very partial to the stark simplicity of the classic editor because all I need is a piece of paper and a pencil, read: a blank screen and a keyboard + mouse).
