Someone erased my site!
-
I’m the only one with admin credentials, and I’ve shared the site address with only 3 people. Still, someone has erased all the content from my site.
I received notice that “emilyM” was not following the blog. When I went to lock that person out, I found that most of the content was gone and that “emily’s” profile had been deleted. The stats don’t show that anyone looked at the site on Jan. 2, which is when I received notice. How can this happen, how do I prevent it in the future, and is my data backed up? Thank you
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s interesting. I have been here for over 8 years and predate almost every staff member but one being on support staff. What I have observed is that the only time blogs are hacked is when bloggers fail to follow security protocols and make it easy for hackers.
If anyone is posting anything to your blog then it’s most likely that you have provided them with the ability to do so either deliberately by adding them as official users, or by allowing them access to your login information, or by posting content that makes it easy for them to guess what your log-in information is.
Who, aside from you, has access to your login information?
Go to your email program and change the password to a very difficult one because that’s how many hackers gain access to blogs
Read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/1. If you can log-in go here > Users > All Users and delete any user that does not belong there.
2. Disable post by email > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/
3. Disable post by voice > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-voice/
4. Change your blog password to a very difficult one > http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password
You can also reset your password via your Settings tab on the WordPress.com home page:
http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/5. Use a secure, encrypted connection to connect to your Dashboard. Under Users → Personal Settings, check the box that says “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages, and click Save Changes.
P.S. I flagged this thread for Staff help. Please confirm the URL of the blog you are referring to if you have not already done so.

Hi there!
The follower Emily was a spam follower and is nothing to worry about. There is no way that user compromised your site by following you.
You say that your site is missing its content now. It looks like nothing has been added to the site figgsbrothers.wordpress.com since about seven months ago when it was first created. It looks like you have several self hosted sites as well as several WordPress.com sites. Are you sure you’re looking at the right one?

Same problem here. MY blog’s everything has erased. But people are saying that during the day, my blog was private. So it means someone did it?

@jungjeri – I’m not sure I understand your issue. Did there used to be content on your site and there isn’t any longer?
This sounds like a different issue than the original post. Can you please open your own thread here:

False alarm! This was my mistake. I started building the site and ended up building it at another url. I would delete the original post, but I can’t find an option to do that ; so I’m marking this resolved.

Oh great! I’m glad you got this sorted out. :)
We don’t delete forums posts, but marking it resolved is perfect.
Let me know if I can help with anything else.
