Someone hacked my blog, please help

  • Unknown's avatar

Someone hacked my blog (http://zakuabumi.wordpress.com/) and deleted most of its content today. I set it on private.

PLEASE somehow disable access to my blog for now, restore it and send me a new pass to (email visible only to moderators and staff) and give advice what I could do. Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The only “hacked” sites I have seen here have been people getting the password somehow to a site so you do want to be careful how you log in and use a tough password.

You should also check to make sure that someone has not added a new user to your site. Problems have also happened when there was more than one Admin. and an Admin left on less than graceful terms.

    Dashboard >> Users

Many times a users email is hacked or the password guessed and the email account is used to get access by requesting a password reset – you need to change your email password and make sure they nobody has been added to your email account.

You should also run a virus check on you PC to make sure your PC does not have a security issue that has compromised your email or WordPress.COM log-in information (also your bank etc. if you do online banking or retirement accounts)

There have also been a few Posts on “hacked” sites and it was because someone got the Post by Email address and using the Post by Email to send in new Posts, if you have Post by email disable the Post by Email and regenerate the address. Spammers have scripts the generate email addresses and they sometimes can get a valid address for a Post by Email address.

If you are really concerned you could as the staff to look at your site: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

You could also use a secure log-in in case you are on an unsecured link: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

My arcor mail account (not the one i listed) has already been hacked as it seems. What can i do?

I changed the mail account and password for my blog. Will this help?

The user displayed has a different name than main (originally ZakuAbumi now gegenhundorg). What does this mean?

Also, is there any life support?

Also, is there any life support?

No zombies allowed – even the friendly supportbot is an honorary person

I also flagged this for the staff to help

I have received a new password for my mail account, there should be no more further damage as far as that one is concerned.

My other questions still remain. I’m panicking right now. Are there any other security measures I could take? And can someone get my blog back to how it was? 500 posts and several comments have been deleted already.

    Hi there,

Please change the password to the email address you have associated with your WordPress.com account (which is not the address you listed here) and post again when that has been done.

So far, I’ve changed my blog’s password, the administrative mail address (to the one mentioned above [a hotmail address], its password as well as the password of the former mail address [the arcor mail address].

Up until now, no more deletions have occurred. Are the aforementioned methods sufficient to make it impossible for the person who managed to get hold of my password to log in again?

My biggest worry now is that there’s no way to restore the massive loss of data, which boils down to the removal of several thousand comments and roughly 250~ published posts as well as 100 drafts (furthermore, about 200 posts have been moved to the trash bin but at least those are easily restorable).

Thanks for your help and understanding.

Now I’ve also changed the email address mentioned among several other account details to aforementioned hotmail address (which also proceeded to change my avatar).

I have sent you an email (at your new email address). Please review that and let me know how you wish to proceed.
