Someone seems to be mirroring my whole blog. Why would he/she do that ?

Hello guys, just a typical serious question here.

I’m blogging on wordpress for almost 10 years now. For the first time, something strange happened. Better to say, it still happens as we speak. My blog is called https://oliverdsw.wordpress.com/ – just so you can check. A few days ago, I did a google search on oliverdsw (my nick) – and stumbled upon a suspicous page called https://jamie.sammyboyforum.nl/.

Maybe you can have a look on it. If I get this correctly, the site is mirroring my whole blog ? But I don’t know where the actual contents are stored. Everytime I publish a new article, it appears on the ‚fake‘ blog, too. Today I commented on the fake-blog – and the comment appeared on my real blog. How is this possible, and what would be the benefit for the ones behind it ? Is this a common issue ?

Referring to the technical aspects, I’m not really into this. But could it be that the „fake“ blog I mentioned isn’t really there (with content), but just acts as a referrer ? So that everytime I visit the fake blog, I get forwarded to my own blog ?

Wasn’t there something with nameservers ? Like he has a domain, sets up the nameservers to the ones my blog is using… so that his page is actually „empty“, but referrs to everything I do. Something like that.

But why the heck would someone do that ?

And of course, what could I possibly do about it ? I already contacted google (to remove the page from the search engine), and a service called dynadot (Which seems to be the hoster). Is there anything else what I can do ? Seems a bit too strange for me what is happening there.

    Greetings, Oliver

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi Oliver! That’s really odd. I tried to figure out who is hosting the site. It seems to be with Cloudflare. Can you reach out to them and file a claim?

And yeah I assumed they were just forwarding the domain to your site — but — that normally wouldn’t help them rank in Google. And I confirmed the site code isn’t doing that. We’ll see what we can find on this.

  • Oliver, we’ve done some checking here and it looks like they’re doing something with a proxy. We don’t know why but the security is okay.

Still, I would recommend contacting Cloudflare with your DMCA complaint if you’d like. Cloudflare is caching the content, so you might also need to reach out to the direct host after that. But I hope this helps.
