Someone signed up with my email?

Hello,
Since I couldn’t find any other way to find support on how to fix this problem, I signed up with a different e-mail address so I can post and get an answer for this:On one of my emails, I found that someone had, apparently, signed up using that email. I didn’t get a confirmation e-mail, though, which is strange, but the username that went along with the sign-up does have an attached blog. I just got this email today, by the way. I didn’t click any links in the e-mail, in case it was well-crafted spam, but then why would the username be working?
Since I can’t find anything else besides these forums, I don’t know who to contact to get the account closed. Should I just request a new password on that account and then log in and close it?
All I can say it’s a pretty strange thing to wake up to.

By the way, even though the bottom of this post seems to automatically say ‘the blog I need help with is eddiebone.wordpress.com’, that’s not the case. It’s a different account.

but they will need to know the blog name you need help with – since it is about email addresses – they might more this thread to email for privacy
How long have you had the email address that has the other blog attached to it?? Some places cancel an email address after a certain amount of no activity and someone else can get it

The blog name is goldenclock1, but I don’t remember ever signing up for a wordpress blog using the email attached to it. I’ve had that e-mail for a long time, and use it regularly. This account I’m using now I only signed-up for today, for this specific purpose.
