Someone stole my site name
-
Hello! I have had a children’s book blog called Books Together since 2007. It’s currently on squarespace although I have been considering moving it to wordpress. I just noticed that someone has obtained the url bookstogether.com (which I have been trying to get for years!) and is now starting a children’s book blog on WordPress. I’ve had Books Together for almost fifteen years and would like to know what I can do to stop this. Please advise. Thanks!
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can’t claim a domain because you have been trying to get it for years nor because you have a free wordpress.com website bookstogether.wordpress.com.
You could try bookstogether with another TLD. -
FYI: bookstogether.com was already registered in 2004, several years before you started Books Together, https://www.whois.com/whois/bookstogether.com.

Thanks! I’m aware that the domain name was registered in 2004 (although it was not an active website at that point or in the intervening years) and am not suggesting that I can claim it just because I have a free wordpress site, thanks.
My point is that someone has started a children’s book blog on wordpress using the name I have used for my own children’s book blog since 2007. They don’t have any contact information on their page so I can’t contact them directly to ask that they consider a different name.

Wordpress.com can’t help you as that site isn’t running on the wordpress.com platform, https://digital.com/best-web-hosting/who-is/#search=bookstogether.com.
The claim you are trying to make is based on quick sand as you never registered ‘Books Together’. So everybody is free to use ‘Books Together’. -
I’m not trying to “make a claim.” I’ve used that name since 2007 and would like to request that someone else not use the same name for the same sort of work. It’s a reasonable request, that’s all. Thanks for your help!
amirudra789, thanks so much.

Actually, no, they were not using that name since 2004. You are wrong. As I mentioned, the domain name was registered then but it was not an active website, and certainly not a children’s book blog, until January 2021.
I’ve thanked you for your help, such as it was. Please stop.

Hello there, As was pointed out above, that domain site is hosted with BlueHost and the domain was registered with GoDaddy. There is no reason to pursue this issue with Automattic, not for trademark violation nor for ToS violation as neither the domain nor the site itself is connected to Automattic or WordPress.com web hosting.
Since this issue is outside the scope of these forums, we are not able to assist you.
