    Does my site look wonky to you? All of a sudden one of the posts has spread up into the right column, the alignment is off in the shadow bar for the first post, the sidebar is waay down on the bottom left. Help!

    It’s the caption feature that is breaking your theme—post from 6 May. You can see the grey extending behind your pictures? Edit the post by removing captions, then make sure the pics are on separate lines in the html editor. Add captions again. When using captions on multiple pictures of a post, it’s best to add all the images first, get them aligned and spaced as you like. Then go back and type in captions so you are sure all the html tags are closed between pics.

    You’re awesome – thank you. I am super unfamiliar with HTML, so when I look at the code I’m not sure what “phrase” marks the beginning of a photo? I did remove the captions, which worked, but I’m not sure how to make sure they photos are on separate lines because, as mentioned, I’m not sure where each photo begins in the code…?

    Sure. First is one of yours. All safe and sound separated from the others:

    <img class="size-medium wp-image-327 aligncenter" title="dsc_01961" src="http://awesomeasaone.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/dsc_01961.jpg?w=300&h=198" alt="Mantle and Fireplace" width="300" height="198" />

    or a general code for a picture:

    <img src="URL_OF_IMAGE"/>

    And just in case you make the pic link to a larger version of itstelf:

    <img src=”URL_OF_IMAGE”/>`

    Notice the < a and a /a > parts? That code would be for an image that opens in a new window, with a lot of stuff between the a’s.

    oops:
    <a href="URL_OF_WEBSITE" target="_blank"><img src="URL_OF_IMAGE"/></a>
    Notice the < a and a /a > parts? That code would be for an image that opens in a new window, with a lot of stuff between the a’s.

    Thanks again, so much — I will check all of that out!!

    From looking at your source code, I don’t think you will have a problem now.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Okay…what is this in front of every image code, then: <p style=”text-align:center;”> ?

  • Unknown's avatar

    The p’s mean paragraphs, aligned center. That’s good: It is telling the browser that the pictures are in separate paragraphs! It will help keep your captions from mixing together again. Just use the visual editor and edit picture thing to add your captions.
